Bulk Encoding through the UI

Introduction

You can encode videos many videos simultaneously using the Qencode Transcoding UILink. The core functionality is similar to single-file processing, with a few adjustments that give you the ability to process multiple files with a single set up and launch workflow.

You can select multiple files for bulk transcoding job in one of three ways:

  • Enter URLs Manually: Add more input fields and enter each URL manually.

  • Upload List of URLs: Upload a .txt or .csv file with a list of URLs to automatically populate the input fields.

  • Upload Files from Computer: Select multiple files from your local computer.

1
Select Multiple Files for Encoding

Start by getting your API key by creating a new project in Qencode, or using the API key from an existing transcoding project. This key serves as your access token for all API calls, as well as to segment your usage analytics and billing.

  1. Under Select Media, click File URLs.
  2. Click Transcode Additional File or Choose from Qencode Storage.
  3. Enter the URL of each of the files you want to transcode.
  4. Click Save.
  1. Under Select Media, click File URLs.
  2. Click Upload List of Videos.
  3. Choose a CSV or TXT file with a list of video URLs. The file should have a single URL per row.
  4. Click Save.
  1. Under Select Media, click Upload Files.
  2. Click Browse and choose files from your local storage. Alternatively, you can Drag and Drop the files you want to transcode.
  3. Choose Qencode Storage or Direct Upload.
  4. Click Save.

2
Configure Transcoding Settings

At this point, you can configure all of your transcode settings, including the destination, formats, codecs, and resolutions, based on the needs for your job. You can also select one of your Templates to quickly apply your pre-configured encoding parameters to all files in the batch.

3
Setting the Output Path for Each Source

This is the most important part of the bulk encoding process. To prevent your transcoded files from overwriting each other, you must provide a unique output path and filename for each source file.

  1. In the Output Settings section, under each Output, you will see a list of Output Paths fields. There will be one field for each source file you added in Step 1.

In each field, enter the full desired output path, including the folder and the new filename.

Example: If you uploaded three source files: interview.mov, b-roll.mov, and promo.mov, your Output Paths for an MP4 output might look like this:

  • Source 1: processed/interview_540p.mp4

  • Source 2: processed/b-roll_540p.mp4

  • Source 3: processed/promo_540p.mp4

Important
Make sure to set a distinct path and file name for each Output Path to prevent your outputs from being overwritten.

4
Launch and Monitor the Jobs

Once all your settings and paths are configured, you are ready to start.

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Launch Transcoding button.

  2. A Transcoding Jobs pop-up window will appear. This screen provides a real-time overview of your batch job.

  3. You can monitor the progress of each individual file as its status changes from "Uploading" to "Transcoding Started."

After the pop-up window shows that all jobs have started, you can close it. To review job details or find your finished files:

  1. Navigate to the Job History tab in the main menu on the left.

  2. Each file from your bulk job will be listed as a separate, completed job, allowing you to review its specific details.
